ISO RATING
Norris Volunteer Fire Department was last rated
by ISO in 1983. We were classified as a "7". Since that time we have
brought additional equipment on-line (a new pumper, tanker, service company,
brush truck);
improved our communication from telephoning each member in case of a fire
to being part of the county 911
system and having our own pager/radio system with a radio repeater that
will reach at least 6 miles and sometimes 20 miles outside the district;
improving the water supply through Easley Central
Water District (1M gal storage tank, additional fire hydrants ); increasing
fireman training; specifing & ordering a new pumper truck that was
delivered June 2000; updating personal protection equipment (turn out gear,
SCBAs, etc.). Paper work was processed and we had ISO re-rate us
in the spring of 2001. They lowered our rating by 1 point.
